If you like eating tomatoes, good news. They are healthy and they should be an important part of your diet. Tomatoes contain: thiamine, vitamin B6, phosphorus, copper and niacin. They are low in cholesterol, saturated fat and calories. But, one serving of red tomatoes can provide you enough of vitamins K, A and C. All of this is important for good health. But, they are even more useful. One serving of tomatoes will give you 2 grams of fiber. Maybe it doesn’t sound much, but this is 7% of the amount you should take every day. In addition, tomatoes are rich in water, so they will keep you full longer. However, tomatoes offer you many more benefits.

•    Tomatoes are also good for healthy skin. Beta-carotene is useful against sun damages. This means that during the summer, eating tomatoes is even more important. Lycopene, also found in tomatoes is useful in protecting your skin against UV light damage. 

•    Lycopene is also important for strong bones. It is also useful against osteoporosis. Tomatoes are rich in calcium and vitamin K. Both of them, are necessary in bone repairs and maintenance. 
•    Tomatoes are useful against cancer. They can reduce the risk of several cancers. Some of them are: cervical, pharynx throat, stomach, colon, prostate, rectal, esophagus, mouth and ovarian cancer. Antioxidants from tomatoes (vitamins C and A) are useful in a battle versus free radicals that can damage our cells.
•    Tomatoes are rich in chromium. This means that they are very effective in controlling the blood sugar levels. 
•    Tomatoes contain vitamin A. This means that they are good for your vision.
