Why did a Journalist scam media for Spreading Bad Chocolate Science
The Britain’s Daily Mail revealed that you could lose weight by eating chocolate. Many news organisations shared these findings of the International Archives of Medicine in all the places like India, Australia, Texas and Germany. The study carried on by John Bohannon was very irrelevant. For io9, he wrote a story that went viral.
Bohannon has done Ph.D. and is a science journalist who made the use of bad nutrition known to the media. However, the dietian stressed the need of science and said that the media should know how to cover the news.
People should be aware how they should use the scientific paper and should not cover the news that is based on gossips and echoes. The study conducted on him was real and random process. Bohannon and his partner recruited 16 people to conduct a study on its diet. They revealed that the people who followed a low carb diet and had about 1.5 ounce dark chocolate lost their weight at a faster rate than the ones who totally depended on diet.
For all the beginners, Bohannon explained that the study has a lot of flaws and had very few subjects and the factors that were significant statistically. He also said that there will be many publications that expose some of the fake news just for a nominal fee. No journalist will do a detailed study on their findings and if they do so then they will be called a good journalist.
